Boston Celtics' Availability Uncertain for Game 3

Jrue Holiday Leads Celtics to 2-0 Lead in Series

Boston, MA - June 7, 2023 - The Boston Celtics are facing an uncertain future in their bid for their 19th NBA championship after star Kristaps Porziņģis suffered a rare injury in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Monday night.

Porziņģis left the game in the fourth quarter after appearing to tweak his right leg. The Celtics went on to win 104-98, taking a 2-0 lead in the series against the Dallas Mavericks.

According to ESPN, Porziņģis has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his right knee. The injury is expected to keep him out indefinitely, casting a shadow over Boston's championship hopes.

Meanwhile, Jrue Holiday led the Celtics to victory in Game 2 with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Jayson Tatum added 24 points, while Marcus Smart contributed 22.

The Celtics' win was marred by the injury to Porziņģis, who has been a key player for Boston this season. The 7-foot-3 Latvian is averaging 20.9 points and 9.2 rebounds in the playoffs.

The Mavericks, who are down 0-2 in the series, also have injury concerns. Luka Doncic, the team's leading scorer, is listed as probable for Game 3 on Wednesday after missing Game 1 with a hamstring injury.

Game 3 of the NBA Finals will be played in Boston on Wednesday, June 8. The Celtics will be looking to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series, while the Mavericks will be desperate to get back into the game.
