The Florida Panthers have taken an early lead in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final after a dominant 3-0 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 1 on Saturday night.
Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was in top form, stopping all 32 shots he faced for the shutout. The Oilers struggled to generate much offense throughout the game, with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl being held relatively quiet.
Carter Verhaeghe scored the game-winning goal for the Panthers in the second period, assisted by Sam Bennett, who also recorded 11 hits.
Game 2 of the series will take place on Monday night in Edmonton.
